About Accessibility Solutions Kent (ASK) - Our Story & Mission

Dedicated to Enabling Independence and Communication

About Me

Hello, I'm Simon Broad, founder of Accessibility Solutions Kent.

I am a independant assistive technology consultant with many years of experience supporting children, young people and adults with complex communication and access needs in the NHS. Throughout my career, I have specialised in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT), helping individuals overcome barriers and achieve greater independence through technology.

Accessibility Solutions Kent was created because I believe that technology has the power to transform lives when it is matched to the individual and implemented in a practical, meaningful way.

My approach goes beyond simply recommending equipment. I enjoy working alongside families to understand their unique challenges, identify opportunities, and develop solutions that make a real difference in everyday life. Whether that's improving communication, accessing a computer, enjoying gaming with friends, controlling the home environment, or increasing independence, my goal is always the same: finding the right solution for the person.

I have experience across a wide range of accessibility technologies, including:

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Assistive Technology (AT)
  • Computer and tablet access
  • EyeGaze Technology
  • Switch access
  • Accessible and adaptive gaming
  • Environmental control systems
  • Smart home technology
  • Mainstream accessibility features

I understand that every individual is different. There is rarely a single solution that works for everyone, which is why I take a person-centred approach, working closely with families to identify practical options that fit their needs, goals and lifestyle.

Accessibility Solutions Kent provides independent support to families across Kent, offering specialist advice, hands-on implementation, training and support to help people get the most from the technology available to them.

If you're unsure what might be possible, I'd be happy to have an informal conversation about your situation and explore potential solutions together.

Because every person deserves the opportunity to communicate, participate and live as independently as possible.
